Large Cypro-Geometric Amphora, 1050-750 B.C.
The large amphora was broken into almost 50 fragments. The surface of the fragments was firstly cleaned using a soft sable brush and a vacuum. This was followed by cleaning using a vulcanised rubber.
The edges of each fragment were consolidated with a 7% solution of an acrylic resin in acetone. This was followed by bonding of the fragments with an 85% solution of the acrylic resign in acetone. All chipping along the join lines and any larger chips were filled with a plaster based filler.
All fills were retouched using acrylic paints with a matt medium.
